Booktober and Spooky Things

This year has escaped me. The days have been long, but the year short, to paraphrase a Mom Quote. It is now October, and so much of what I planned has not come to fruition. My word of the year is Beauty, and it has been a struggle to see beauty for me this year. I believe God did that on purpose, to challenge my concept of beauty.

Over the past year and a half, we as a family have been walking through a deep valley. From car problems to health issues to financial difficulties to losing a loved one, our family has had few bright spots. I thank God for it. I know that sounds odd, but when things get hard, you dig deeper into your own reserves of energy and gumption. The harder they get, the more you dig. Soon enough, you will hit bottom. When that happens, where do you go? Friends? Family? We turn to God, and we have HAD to turn to Him more than ever before. And that, my friends, is beautiful. Here's why - nothing changes, but you. Our car problems didn't vanish; our health issues didn't heal. Our financial difficulties are still here, and our loved one is still gone. Our lives have changed nonetheless, and in ways I can barely articulate.

I have been crafting still. This is my latest project, Noa by Truly Myrtle. This should be a great 3 season sweater, as it's a cotton/silk blend. I have been stash diving!

I finally finished my Magic Nights shawl (although it still needs to be blocked). I have had this sitting around since 2021, and I just got an itch to knit it up. It was one of those patterns that you really have to pay attention to - no mindless TV knitting there! But it turned out lovely.

I hope to post more updates now. I have been quiet due to everything going on, but I believe God is always faithful and asks us to be as well.
