Seaming

I am just not sure about this sweater.  The side seams do not line up like I thought they would...apparently there are more rows on the front than on the back.  I am tempted to take it out and make the front shorter, instead of the back longer, because I am almost out of yarn.  I mean, I have to undo the swatch in order to seam it with blue.  I think for now, I will finish it, and then when he outgrows it, I will take it apart and reknit it, and he can wear it again.  But it bothers me.

So I started his second sweater.  It is the Flax Light pattern from Tin Can Knits, and I am using KnitPicks Palette yarn in Whirlpool.

Still working

I still haven't finished the sweater.  The hood gave me issues.  They are not for the faint of heart.  For whatever reason, I had the hardest time with it.  The directions were easy enough, even to understand, but my hands would not obey.  I think in trying to hurry, I did not pay enough attention.  But, the hood is done.  The duplicate stitching is not, but is looking well.

Don't spare the pins

I should have done each piece as I finished them, but I waited and blocked 3 of them at once.  And I ran out of pins.  Pins are not to be skimped on when blocking.  You need more than you think you do.  I don't usually have this issue, because I like to knit sweaters in the round.

Sometimes though, it is good to change things up.
But not having enough pins can be a problem.

I guess I need to get more pins, for just such occasions as these.

Seventy six stitches

It is rolling horribly, but such is the nature of stockinette.  I reknit the front with no design, and will duplicate stitch it after blocking.  I have the back and a sleeve done, and I only have 76 stitches left on the front.  I am on row 108, about to start 109, and I have to knit until row 136 for the neck shaping.  That means 28 more rows, and I split the front and work the 2 sides separately.  This is definitely moving slower than I would like, but there is noticeable progress being made.

T-minus 5 and counting

There are 5 days until Little Man's birthday.  I have most of one sleeve done.  And I decided to go back and duplicate stitch the front.  Much like embroidery, the back of intarsia should be neat, and the neater the back, the higher the level of talent.  The back of the dragon is not so neat.  So much to do, so little time.  Time to get busy.  Again.

Not sure about this

I am almost done with the front panel, but I am not sure the majority of it is working for me.  I am finding gaps and pulls now, more than before.  I am wondering if going back and fixing it, or trying to, would be wise.  I am pretty sure some of it can be blocked out, but the gaps, and some of them will take a lot more tinkering than I would really like.

I finished my Wurm hat as well, and threw it in the wash so I could somewhat block it.  The wool is superwash, so it should be fine.  There is a picture here of it.

Going On

I am still working on the Dragon sweater.  I feel like each row goes quickly, but getting the whole thing done takes forever.  The hat is still distracting me.  And it is close to being done, which is why it is distracting me.  I feel like something is starting in my throat, and it isn't good.  Maybe it is just the weather changing, and not staying cold or warm, but fluctuating.  I know I am not the only one.

Distractions

This week, I planned on finishing the feont of Little Man's sweater.  But I got distracted.  My car died on Thursday night and I sat waiting for my hubby to pick me up for about an hour.  I packed some yarn I received at Christmas with a needle and pattern, and I was glad I did.  I managed to start my Wurm hat, and it has been addictive ever since.  Also, the weather turned super cold (we had a bit of snow), and I kind of have been wanting another hat.  I am close to being done on the sweater front, but the hat is easiser to pull out and work on.  Ever get distracted like that?

Still working on it

I hope to have this done today, but it may be tomorrow, since I have training for a job tonight.  Yes, I am picking up some seasonal part time work to help with some expenses.  I am really close to finishing the front, and have started the fire from the mouth of the dragon.  I think if I can finish it tomorrow, I can block it over the weekend and make sure it all lies flat.

There are a few places where it puckers, but I think with some patience and time, after washing and blocking, I can get those places to lie down.  I am pretty sure there is enough slack in the back floats to loosen those places, and it will look fine.  It sure is a lot of work, but Little Man will enjoy it.  And that is what is important.

Another Intarsia Update

We interrupt this program for another intarsia update.  The pattern is now halfway completed, and the armscye shaping will befin on the next row.  The only problem that has occurred has been an extra stitch added somewhere in the middle, which will be rectified once the pattern is complete.  We now return to our regularly scheduled program.

The New Year

I finished a sock cow for the Princess today, and made minimal progress on the Dragon Hoodie.

I guess a little progress is better than none.  I hope to complete a lot of projects this year.  And get a better start on my Etsy shop.  The new year promises to be bright.

I am up to row 27 on the chart, out of 85.  Something is better than nothing, right?
